Fresh Boards

Ice Tubes has finished our first custom surfboards. We’ve been making surfboards from kits for years now, and we even turned an old longboard in to an unusable shortboard.

I copied the outline of these two boards off deigns I found on the internet, but that’s about it. The height, width, and thickness were all a guess on this shaping journey. I had the boards glassed at a local surf shop, Bunger, here in Babylon Village.

The rails are way too square — it feels like your holding books — but having said that I’m still very proud of these two boards. I rode one this afternoon out in Montauk and to my surprise it worked much better then I expected.

  1. Woot. I know it’s July, but this was an exciting post! I’m really interested in the craftsmanship and product side of surf culture.
